Oxford County OPP, Woodstock Police Service and the Canadian Mental Health Association are joining together to start up a two year pilot project, which is aimed at improving response times for people experiencing mental health crisis’.
“M-Heart”, which will roll out this fall, will be available in Oxford County and will be useful in chronic cases where someone may need long term mental health interventions. A  crisis worker will accompany officers on mental health calls to help deescalate those situations.
The project is funded for two years by a Proceeds of Crime Front Line Policing Grant.
