On Sunday, March 8, 2020, at approximately 10:49 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, Norfolk Fire Department and Norfolk Paramedic Services responded to a three vehicle collision at a Queensway East, Simcoe, Norfolk County address.

 

It was determined that a pickup truck was travelling east bound on Queensway East when the driver collided with a north bound vehicle that was exiting from a local mall, just west of Donly Drive. Upon impact, the pickup truck continued eastbound and collided with a west bound pickup truck that was stopped at the stop light causing the pickup truck to roll over.

 

Members of the Norfolk County Fire Department extricated the driver and passenger of the pickup at which time they were transported to a local area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

 

Two adults and a young infant located in the pickup truck were transported to a local area hospital for precautionary measures. The third driver involved did not suffer any injuries.

 

As a result, police have charged the driver of the pickup truck with red light- fail to stop contrary to Section 144 (18) of the Highway Traffic Act. They were subsequently issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

 

Queensway East was closed for approximately 2 hours to allow for investigation and removal of the vehicles.
