As reported earlier today, the first case of the coronavirus reported in Oxford County, Elgin County or St. Thomas was confirmed by Southwestern Public Health. A male in his 30’s from Elgin County tested positive for COVID-19 after close contact with someone outside the region who has the virus. The individual is now in self-isolation at his home. Details can be found here on the Southwestern Public Health website:

Also, as of today, Woodstock Hospital has changed the hours their main entrance and Emergency Department entrance will be open. Note, the main entrance will be open from 7am-8pm and the Emergency Department entrance will be open from 8pm-7am. Signs should be in place. A “no visitor policy” went into effect last week. Further details are available on the hospital website:

The only addition since last week to previous local announcements is that the Waste Management Facility in Salford is open for commercial use only and not accepting residential drop offs. Those rules went into effect on Saturday (Mar. 21). Please keep in mind that garbage and recycling collections are continuing as normal, but residents should be ready for information on service changes that will affect some residents after May 4.
