On Monday, March 23, 2020, at approximately 12:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (, Norfolk County Detachment was contacted by the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre (JRCC) located in Trenton for a missing person that went overboard a vessel in the waters of Lake Erie in Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual located on a commercial vessel went overboard between 10:10 a.m. and 10:20 a.m., while the boat was approximately eight miles west of Long Point on Lake Erie.

The Joint Rescue and Co-ordination Centre along with two other vessels assisted with search while Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team searched the shoreline with negative results.

On Tuesday, March 24, 2020, members of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit responded along with OPP Aviation Services to continue the search of Lake Erie.
