From today’s Southwestern Public Health data release, covering Oxford County, Elgin County and the city of St. Thomas, there has only been one new case of the virus reported in the area in the past 24 hours. It has appeared in the Malahide area and is likely the first coronavirus case reported there.

A few other stats: the Malahide case brings the total of cumulative confirmed cases in the Southwestern Public Health area to 40 and there have been 9 resolved cases, meaning they are no longer considered contagious. Looking at the age distribution graph, the age group with the majority (22.2%) of cases are those 55-59 years of age. With only 1 case in each group, it’s the extreme ends of the age chart with the least number of cases, those 90+ and those 15-19. Oddly, there are no cases showing in the age category 60-64.

And a reminder that the three Oxford Hospitals are still asking for donations of needed supplies from masks, goggles, gloves, gowns and hand sanitizer. Drop-off bins are located at the following sites: Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, a yellow bin at 167 Rolph St. across from the hospital; Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll at 29 Noxon St., a bin at the east rear loading dock; and in Woodstock at Oxford County Paramedic Services at 377 Mill St., a blue bin at the back entrance off Sales Dr.
