The Covid-19 virus has claimed its fourth victim in the area covered by Southwestern Public Health (Oxford County, Elgin County and the city of St. Thomas). This is the first death in the area from the virus in over a week. No further details have been released and our thoughts and hearts go out to the victim’s family and friends.

In addition, 3 new cases have been reported or confirmed since yesterday in Oxford County, bringing the total to 14 cases. A new case in Blandford-Blenheim brings their total to 4. Another new case has been reported in Zorra, bringing their total to 2. East Zorra-Tavistock, Tillsonburg and Woodstock still have 2 cases each. Norwich continues to have one case, while Southwest Oxford is reporting their first case.

Meanwhile, in Elgin County, the number of cases has dropped from 17 to 15 cases. St. Thomas still has 7 cases of the virus, Dutton/Dunwich remains with 3 cases, West Elgin still has 2 cases, while Aylmer, Bayham and Malahide continue to have 1 case each.
