Southwestern Public Health has released today’s update of Covid-19 cases in Oxford and Elgin Counties and the city of St. Thomas, and there’s another case in Oxford County. Norwich has the new case which brings their total of active cases to two, along with East Zorra-Tavistock, Tillsonburg and Zorra. The new Norwich case brings the number of active cases in Oxford to a high of 17. Blanford-Blenheim and Woodstock continue to cope with 4 cases each, while Southwest Oxford remains with one case.

Meanwhile, Elgin County continues to see a slight decline in their number of active cases. Their total drops to 13 cases with 6 still in St. Thomas and 3 in Dutton/Dunwich. West Elgin has resolved a case dropping their total, along with Alymer, Bayham and Malahide, to 1 case each.

Comparing today’s statistics with Monday’s, the area covered by Southwestern Public Health has seen two new cases with the area total going from 28 at the start of the week to 30 cases by Friday. Unfortunately, Oxford County began the week with 10 active cases and is now dealing with 17. Elgin/St. Thomas has dropped from 18 cases on Monday to 13 with the release of today’s data.

Oxford County has announced the launch this week of a program that will see trained paramedics go out into the community to test individuals for the coronavirus who otherwise can’t get to an assessment centre. Details of the program are available on the county website (see link below).
