Today’s data release by Southwestern Public Health of active Covid-19 cases in Oxford and Elgin counties, including the city of St. Thomas, contains some very encouraging news for Oxford. Since yesterday, 5 coronavirus cases have been resolved and for the first time in over a month, there are no reported cases in Tillsonburg. Tillsonburg’s 3 cases have been resolved. In addition, Woodstock has seen the resolution of one of their cases, dropping their total down to just 2, and Norwich has resolved their single case. Southwest Oxford still has 1 remaining case. Oxford County’s number of active cases has dropped from 8 to just 3.

In Elgin County, the situation has remained constant with no changes since late last week. The area continues to show 4 active cases, with two each in St. Thomas and Malahide. The total number of active cases in the Southwestern Public Health jurisdiction drops from 12 to 7.

Although the news appears to be very good for Tillsonburg and Oxford County, don’t go trying to sell your masks and gloves on Ebay just yet. It will take days, probably weeks, of going virus-free before the safe practices can be eased.
