Active Covid-19 cases in Oxford County have slightly more than doubled since yesterday. That information comes in comparing today’s data release from Southwestern Public Health with yesterday’s stats. Southwestern Public Health covers Oxford and Elgin counties and the city of St. Thomas.

In Oxford County, the number of cases rose from 4 to 9, with 3 new cases in Ingersoll. Their total now stands at 4. The rise in the Ingersoll numbers appears to be related with an outbreak at the Secord Trails long-term care facility. A single staff case was reported earlier this week. That number has now jumped to 7. Not all of the current staff infected may be living in Ingersoll.

Tillsonburg added a new case since yesterday, an addition to the new case reported yesterday involving an employee at the town’s Moffatt & Powell Rona store. Woodstock also saw a new case added. Both Tillsonburg and Woodstock now have 2 active cases each. East Zorra-Tavistock continues to have a single case.

Meanwhile, Elgin County saw a drop in the number of cases there. The lone St. Thomas case has been resolved, while Malahide continues to have 1 case, leaving Elgin with its only active case.

The Tillsonburg Moffatt & Powell Rona store reopened today after one of its employees tested positive for the Covid-19 virus earlier this week. When the store learned of the worker’s diagnosis, it was immediately closed for “extensive cleaning and disinfecting.” Rona officials advise anyone who visited the store between May 15 and 19 to monitor for symptoms of the virus for 14 days and, if needed, called Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000.
