On Sunday, May 24, 2020, at approximately 3:16 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a mischief at a Church Street, Port Rowan, Norfolk County address.

It was determined that at approximately 3:00 a.m., a homeowner was awoken for their sleep after hearing a loud bang outside their residence. The owner attended outside and observed damage to their home and immediately contacted police.

 

Officers arrived on scene and observed what appeared to be incendiary devices that had been thrown at the home. One of the devices started the house on fire however it appears to have extinguished itself. After speaking further to the victim, it was discovered that after hearing the loud bang noises outside the home, a vehicle with a loud muffler fled from the area on Front Road in an unknown direction.

 

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance. Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or any vehicles or person(s) in the area or if private residences or businesses captured the suspect vehicle on their security surveillance footage to call police.
