Sounds sexy, doesn’t it? If I just leave it at that, it sounds like we had something going on.

Truth is we didn’t and it wasn’t sexy at all.

During Canadian Country Music Week in Hamilton, Ont., in 1993, Shania was making an appearance at a record store in Jackson Square. She was there to promote her first major record label album, “Shania Twain,” the one with Shania on the cover with a wolf. The event was promoted with Twain serving pancake breakfasts to fans who lined up to meet her. I was about third in line.

I have a photo of me enjoying the breakfast and you can see part of the album cover poster on the table.

Today, Shania is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of her next album, “The Woman in Me,” the album that catapulted her to superstardom and helped make her the best-selling country female artist in history.

As part of the promotion for that album, Shania did a bunch of telephone radio interviews 25 years ago and I chatted with her about the difference between her new album and her previous album. I had noticed that her vocals on “The Woman in Me” album sounded more relaxed and at ease than her “Shania Twain” album. She explained that her producer, her husband at the time, Robert “Mutt” Lange wanted her to sing on the album like she sang around the house. Shania said that was probably what I had picked up on and thought that was “cool.”

Happy 25th anniversary, Shania!
