Meet Roxy!

Roxy is an 8 year old Yorkshire Terrier. Weighing a whopping 5 pounds this little girl is sweet, and loves to cuddle and snuggle under the blanket. When first arriving in our care, she was totally incontinent, unable to hold her urine for more than 10 minutes at a time. After surgery to remove 4 large bladder stones, she needed to be potty re- trained and is now successful in holding her bladder for 6 hours overnight, and is encouraged to go out several times during waking hours. She does have ‘piddle’ accidents occasionally, but is 90% reliable to indicate she needs to go out. She will need to remain on the specialized Urinary diet from the vet to maintain her bladder health. She is a very vocal girl and has a bit of separation anxiety so will bark extensively to show her displeasure and get your attention. She would NOT be suitable in an apartment because of this. She is nervous with strangers and touching her can result in ‘jumping’ behavior. She had her first groom with us, and found that to be a challenge as she was so nervous, but with time, and trust, we would hope she’d become more comfortable. She loves to be told she is a good girl and praise is a great motivator with her. She is comfortable with other dogs and has many kitties in her foster home. She has had no experience with children, and because of her skittish temperament, children under 10 would not be a good fit. She loves car rides and will sit on the passenger seat quietly, but will try and get onto the driver’s lap too. Leash walking is something foster is working on, as she thinks she’s a sled dog and loves to pull! We are looking for a quiet home, with someone home often, with easy access to the outdoors, who wants to fill their life with a funny, happy little girl full of spunk and lots of love to give.

She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her vaccines, Heartworm Negative, flea treated and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $375.
