To celebrate the month of Movember and men’s health awareness, Oxford County Archives has released a virtual exhibit honoring Wardens of the County with exemplary facial hair.

The History Of Facial Hair Gallery delves into the history of mustache and beard styles through the ages. The online exhibit features a portrait gallery of Oxford County Wardens modeling popular facial hair styles or trends from 1850 to 1950, with more than twenty mustache and beard styles to read about.

The exhibit is a collaboration between Oxford County Archives, the Beachville District Museum and the Norwich and District Museum & Archives. Both museums contributed photographs of their artifact collection relating to the history of barbershops and the tools of the trade. Exhibit viewers will be able to see and read online about the artifacts, which include historical razors, strops, hair clippers, shaving powder and brushes.
