Meet Quintin!

This sweet, young guy was dumped at a rural property with his sister. He survived the winter, but lost an ear due to frostbite. Early this spring he was found to be missing his foot. We suspect he could have been trying to stay warm in a motor and was injured then. He was being fed by a group of kind people, who contacted the rescue for help with other cats on the property, and mentioned he needed some help as well. We quickly had him brought in and were able to have a vet look at him immediately. As he was still trying to walk on the injured leg, it was determined that the best treatment plan would be to remove the femur at the joint to prevent re-injury and risk of infection.

It has taken him some time to become comfortable with the missing limb, and he still prefers to slide across the carpeted floor rather than walk. We have been encouraging him with toys and treats, and he is quite able to walk on 3 legs, but would rather not. He will be having his stitches removed and receive his vaccines later this week, and will then be ready for his indoor forever home. He is still nervous of humans, but will come to you and rub up against your leg, but then shy away if you attempt to touch him. He is not fond of being picked up, but tolerates it.

He is a happy, playful boy who is very interested in the other kitties in his home. He loves his wand toy and soft toys with lots of areas to ‘grab’. He is quite verbal, chirping and meowing at the other kitties and his human too! He loves chin scratches and once comfortable with that touch, belly scratches are not far behind. He prefers to lay near you, not on you, but may decide that is something he enjoys too! He uses his litter box without issue and has no difficulty hopping in and out.

We don’t know if he’s met children or dogs, but careful introductions should make for an easy transition. Quintin needs an adopter who will encourage him to move independently, is quiet, and understands his fear of humans…..memories run deep. He is neutered, up to date with his vaccines, flea treated and dewormed, FIV/FelV negative and ready for his new family.
