Meet Raylee, Rory, Remy, Rowan and Ripley

This gorgeous momma came into our care very pregnant and gave birth to 3 beautiful kittens, and then lovingly accepted a fourth orphan as her own. She is an amazing momma, and a very loving member of her foster home. She is playful and loves all the attention she can get! She loves cuddles, belly rubs and shows her appreciation by giving little kisses back!
Unfortunately sometime during her young life she was infected with FIV, most likely during breeding.

This illness is not contagious to humans and is spread via deep bites, usually associated with fighting, or through the placenta, making her kittens (Ripley, Remy, Rory, and Rowan) FIV positive as well.
FIV reduces the cat’s immune system’s ability to respond to any infections due to the lower amount of white blood cells in the body. The best way to manage an FIV cat is to use preventative care so that the cat can be as strong as possible before any of these symptoms manifest, and if they do arise, symptomatic treatment is usually the course of action. Yearly vaccinations, a healthy diet and staying indoors to limit their exposure to potential illness, can extend an already long life.
