Meet Emmerson!

This big guy hasn’t had an easy life. Left behind when his owner moved, he and 2 friends were being fed and given outdoor shelter by a nice man. When he became ill and had to be hospitalized, Emmerson and his friends were again left to fend for themselves. It took us a few days, but Emmerson finally gave in and was hungry enough to enter the live trap and begin the next chapter in his journey with us. He was badly matted and had both eyes infected. At his visit to the vet, we found that he had been neutered earlier in his life (and has a tipped ear to prove it), was FIV/FeLV negative, had his vaccines and was started on antibiotic eye drops. The infection has persisted and we have now changed his eye medication to a stronger ointment and it looks like they are finally clearing up! His teeth aren’t in great condition and will need some attention in the future.
He is very nervous of being approached and will hiss, but instantly warms up and purrs when he gets his chin scratches. He is super scared of a blanket, bed or a box and will retreat into his litter box for security. He reacts best to slow, gently movement and quiet voices. He loves to be brushed and will stick his tongue out and drool! He will play for very short periods of time and becomes bored of his toy quickly. He’s very curious about the other kitties and will talk back to them if they meow first.

He would like a quiet indoor home with an adopter that understands his fear and gives him plenty of time to adjust and make the first move….this may take a few months of hiding! Children should be 12 years or older and he would not like a doggy friend, but a kitty friend would be ok with him.
