Meet Sam! Sam is a 8 year old Labrador Retriever mix.

I am a lovely 8 year old gentlemen with lots of love and tons of energy left in me. I am a very sweet, intelligent black lab cross who loves other dogs and is good with cats in that they hold no interest for me at all!

I am a very active boy who love walks and can play fetch with my frisbee for hours. I would do best with a large fenced in yard to play in and no small children please. Even though I have so much energy, I also really love my snuggles. All I really want to do in this world is love and please my people .

I do experience some separation anxiety as I’m used to being with my people all the time. I would do best in a home where I will not be left alone for very long too often. My foster family is working with me on slowly becoming more comfortable being left alone and I am doing quite well with my foster family’s other dogs to help comfort me and keep me company – a forever home with other dogs would definitely help me adjust more easily. I do like to try to be the dominant dog in the house and would need an easy going sibling and to be watched closely until I settled into my new place in your pack.

I have good recall outside and do fairly well on my leash too. I do like to bark some when I’m playing in the yard with my foster brother or when I see other dogs walking by outside and am working on calming my excitement – having a good run every day helps a lot!

I am incredibly smart – you can tell by the way I cock my head to listen to you that I understand so much of what you’re saying, and I want so much to listen and learn! I learn and adapt to new situations very quickly – even as an older dog I bet I would do really well in agility courses.

I am on a special diet (no chicken or chickenmeal) for a skin condition, neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, flea and tick treated and microchipped. – and looking forward to finding a loving forever family of my own.
