The 1980 film “9 to 5” remains a cultural touchstone, celebrated for its bold stance on women’s rights in the workplace. Starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin, the movie portrayed three co-workers uniting to challenge their sexist boss, embodying the spirit of equality and justice.

Now, this iconic film is set to be reimagined by Jennifer Aniston, promising a fresh take on its enduring themes.

At the Hollywood premiere of the 2022 documentary “Still Working 9 to 5” on Wednesday, May 30, original stars Tomlin and Fonda shared their excitement and cautious optimism about Aniston’s upcoming project. Tomlin, speaking to Variety, expressed her well-wishes, saying, “We hope she has great success. It’s a hard nut to crack because the issues are somewhat different.”

Tomlin acknowledged that while times have changed, many of the underlying issues addressed in the original film persist. “There’s still the undercurrent of the same kind of negativity towards females,” she noted. “These are not easy-to-solve issues. So we’re very eager to see what they do.”

Fonda echoed this sentiment, adding simply, “I hope she does it.”
