Southwestern Public Health is reporting a third death from Covid-19 in the area covering Oxford and Elgin Counties and the city of St. Thomas. Further details, such as the gender and age of the victim is not currently available, nor the municipality in which they lived.

Comparing this morning’s data release with last Thursday’s, to get a picture of the virus’ progression over the Easter weekend, the total number of cases in Oxford County has dropped from 10 to 8, with the number in Woodstock dropping from 5 cases to just 1. However, the first 2 cases have been reported in Blandford-Blenheim as well as 1 new case in Zorra Township.

For Elgin/St. Thomas, the weekend saw an increase in the number of cases. Three new cases bring the total in that area from 12 on Thursday to 15 this morning. St. Thomas has gone up from 4 to 6 cases, with new single cases reported in Southwold and East Elgin.

Of the 35 cumulative cases reported by Southwestern Public Health, 26 are ongoing, 6 have been resolved and are no longer considered contagious, while 3 deaths have occurred since the outbreak began.
