Today’s data release from Southwestern Public Heath, which covers Oxford and Elgin counties as well as the city of St. Thomas, is showing no change since yesterday in the number of active Covid-19 cases in the area. The grand total remains at 5 cases, with 2 in Elgin County (one case each in Malahide and St. Thomas) and 3 cases in Oxford County (one each in East Zorra-Tavistock, Ingersoll and Woodstock).

The Ingersoll case, which was declared two days ago, involves a staff member of the Secord Trails long-term Care Community. It’s the third care facility to report an infection since late March. Each of the 3 institutions involved had 1 case each, two of which, including the current Ingersoll case, were staff related. The 2 previous cases were resolved.

In Tillsonburg, as some businesses reopened with new procedures in place, some recreational areas have also reopened. Two in particular, the Dave Johnson Memorial Dog Park and the Optimist tennis courts, reopened yesterday.
