On Saturday, May 23, 2020, at approximately 6:50 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated an animal complaint at a Banstead Street, Delhi, Norfolk County address.

It was determined that three children were playing on the roadway when an unleashed dog approached one of the children and bit a 7-year-old child. The child suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local area hospital to be treated.

The owner of the dog, a 49-year-old of Norfolk County, Ontario was charged with cause dog to bit an individual contrary to Norfolk County By-Law 2014-46.

The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit have been notified.

The owner was issued a Provincial Offences Notice.
