Meet Burgess!

This big boy came into rescue as a stray. We estimate he is 6 years old. He is very friendly, loves people and mostly kids! He is a happy boy, who loves to be outside chilling in a snowbank (if he can find one). He and his foster dog brother enjoy a constant game of tag or fetch out in the fenced yard, and it was recently discovered that he enjoys a dip in the neighbourhood pond too! He walks well on leash (and off leash), has good recall and comes back when called if he wanders too far. He is a gentle giant, isn’t super food motivated and has no resource guarding issues. Getting him into a vehicle is a bit of a challenge, he’s 50 kilograms of stubborn, and does not work for treats, so muscle is needed. Once in the vehicle, he’s well behaved and enjoys the ride and happily hops out when the destination has been reached! He is heavily coated, needs daily brushing and sheds….a lot! He does not like to be left alone and can be destructive, so a family that is home a good portion of the day or another dog friend would be a must in his forever home. Great Pyrenees are working (herding/guardian) dogs that require an experienced owner, and a large, safe property.
He has been Heartworm tested, flea and tick treated, dewormed, neutered and his vaccines are up to date.
The adoption fee is $375. An application to adopt him can be found on our website www.oxfordcountyanimalrescue.com. Click on Adopt, then Dogs for Adoption, and scroll to the bottom of the page. You must be 21 years old to adopt.
