There are only 52 weeks in a year.  That means out of the thousands of songs that are released every year, only a potential 52 songs can make it to #1 on the music charts.  But the number is smaller than that due to some songs spending more than a week at the top spot.  So, reaching #1 is a pretty special event in an artist’s career.  Billboard magazine began publishing their weekly top country singles chart in Canada in 2013.  And here are all the songs that reached #1 in 2018:
-the entire month of January (01/06, 01/13, 01/20, 01/27) saw Brett Young’s “Like I Loved You” dominate the top spot.  Having spent the last week of 2017 at #1, the song stayed at the top for a total of 5 consecutive weeks.  “Like I Love You” spent more weeks at #1 in 2018 than any other song;
-Dallas Smith scored his fifth #1 hit when “Sleepin’ Around” reached #1 on 02/03, making him the first Canadian to have a #1 hit this year;
-Old Dominion took over for the rest of February (02/10, 02/17, 02/24) when their second #1 hit, “Written in the Sand,” stayed at the top for three weeks.  They were the only group to have a #1 hit in 2018;
-Thomas Rhett almost completely took over the month of March (03/03, 03/17, 03/24, 03/31).  “Marry Me” became his seventh #1 in Canada and was at the top for four weeks;
